Spring 2018 students begin workshops in Temporal

April 11, 2018

Spring 2018 students Marvin Bynoe and Leidy Tovar have been collaborating with Aliya Ellenby (Kids' Books Bolivia project coordinator), and Teodora Fulguera (independent educator who works locally to promote reading amongst children and youth), providing dynamic literacy workshops to 4th graders in Temporal, Cochabamba.

This volunteer experience included 6 workshops, where children read the books Confronting the Giant, by Emily Smizer, Unplugged, by Jenna Jablonski, Chita, by Casey Anderson, Pecas, by Catherine Mapa, What the Liqi Liqi Knew, by Jessica Simone Ebersole, and The Honey is Ours!, by Julius Figueroa. After reading each story, the kids participated in creative activities that allowed them to explore the themes of the book more deeply, and actively engage with each reading.
