To celebrate the anniversary of the Trabajo Digno Project, Kids' Books Bolivia was invited to present Cailin Campbell's book, The Magical Bunny. This book tells the story of Valentina, a domestic worker, her daughter, and their magical stuffed bunny. Together, they navigate the consequences of labor exploitation, the importance of standing up for yourself, and the value in doing your best. This book is a tool for discussing labor rights and exploitation, allowing readers to develop an understanding of the reality of some domestic workers.
After an introductory presentation by Heidi Baer, Kids' Books Bolivia coordinator and local artist Aliya Ellenby, and Carmen Cardenas of Títeres Elwaky, presented the book using theatrical storytelling and puppetry. At the end of the story, audience members were invited up to participate in a Forum Theatre simulation, becoming spect-actors, and acting out the possibilities of the story.
